Humidification & Water Systems

Pendred MicroMisting Systems

Detailed Explanation

MicroMisting Systems periodically emit an ultra light mist of water directly onto the product, usually for 1 to 2 seconds every 10-15 minutes.

The main applications are for ambient or refrigerated multi-deck Produce counters and Wet Fish displays.

MicroMisting deposits a sacrificial layer of moisture onto the product surface, greatly reducing dehydration and maintaining product weight and condition. Flying insects are also discouraged.

The System

Although similar to North American Misting systems, MicroMisting Systems operate at much higher water pressures (130 psi) and use much smaller quantities of water.

In addition to providing a protective layer of moisture, the system also raises the relative humidity within the display case, further benefiting both misted and un-misted products.

The Effect

As the layer of moisture evaporates from the product surface, latent heat is removed, noticeably reducing the surface temperature and boosting humidity.

Moisture is absorbed naturally into living produce, salad and vegetables promoting re-hydration. Shelf life and condition are extended and appearance is improved.

The Water

PENDRED MicroMisting systems are designed to operate for 24 hours a day but only use a small amount of water. Systems include a water filtration/demineralisation unit as standard. These eliminate lime-scale build up within Moisture Maintenance equipment and display counters.

The Benefits

* Display life is extended, reducing wastage.
* Products are cooled by evaporative cooling.
* Living salad and vegetables re-hydrate, refreshing the product and slowing down the dying process.
* The system can be used for a variety of products including wet fish.
* Flying insects are also discouraged.

Maintenance

Maintenance is minimal on PENDRED MicroMisting systems. The water filtration system will need its pre-filters changed at least once a year or more often if local water conditions require. Misting tips should be cleaned, checked and de-scaled every six to twelve months.
