Tru-fog™ Crop Hydration System

A unique process developed by Pendred Humidification working closely with international produce and salad growers, packers, processors and shippers.

Turn your cold store into a conditioning room by filling the atmosphere with a light but visible Tru-fog™ made up of minute droplets (<3 microns) of purified water suspended in the atmosphere enables living produce deprived of its root system to hydrate.

High humidity fogging goes beyond normal humidification. Used either on its own or in support of existing high humidity cooling systems or agricultural humidification systems already in use, high humidity also makes traditional DX refrigeration more efficient and less costly to run.

Maximise pick weight, quality & shelf life

<3 micron water droplets, small enough to be absorbed naturally into the leaves and bodies and salad and vegetable products ‘without wetting’, very beneficial during temperature pull down to remove field heat and or longer term storage.

Only UltraSonic nebulisation can produce the required amount of <3-micron fog.  Agricultural humidification systems using compressed air and water, spinning discs, or high-pressure water produce droplets of >20 microns and are only designed to boost humidity to neutralise the drying effect of refrigerated air.

Don’t be misled by agricultural systems, sometimes referred to as Fogging systems. These do not produce the amount of <5 micron droplets or Tru-fog™ required to re-hydrate crops and also tend to wet the crop and floor.

Tru-fog™ will re-hydrate crops harvested in dry weather or delivered with less than their maximum level of moisture. Only a few hours in our Tru-fog™ environment will see product re-conditioned and up to maximum pick weight, naturally and ‘as nature intended’.

Typically baby leaf salads will be cooled and held in Tru-fog™ for 12 hours before shipping as it is better and more valuable than when cut. Baby leaf can also beheld in Tru-fog™ for 7-10 days, without loss of condition. This is strategic cropping. Cut when the weather, quality, leaf length is best. Cool and condition for 12-24 hours, then deliver exactly when required, direct from the Tru-fog™ store. No more last minute cutting in bad weather or when the crop is not quite ready.
